Oldenburg / Prenzlau, 12 November 2009. aleo solar AG generated revenue of EUR 220.8 million in the first nine months of 2009 (January to September 2008: EUR 256.2 million). The positive EBIT of EUR 0.3 million confirms the trend reversal that the company achieved in the second quarter. EBIT includes impairment losses on inventories of finished goods amounting to around EUR 10 million and thus underscores aleo solar AG’s flexible cost structures. Earnings per share were EUR –0.15 (EUR 0.94). Production output totalled 78.4 megawatts (95.8 megawatts).
“Deliveries picked up significantly in the course of the year,” said Uwe Bögershausen, member of the Management Board and CFO of aleo solar AG. “At just under 83 megawatts, deliveries of aleo modules are up 12% on the prior-year figures. The trend reversal is proving to be sustainable because our high order backlog stretches into the first quarter of the coming year.”
aleo solar AG is convinced that it will reach its planned sales targets. Although solar module prices have probably bottomed out for this year, it is very difficult at the moment to predict the revenue that this volume target will achieve at the end of 2009. Against the backdrop of the financial crisis, concrete earnings forecasts continue to depend to a large extent on macroeconomic developments.
If, as some experts expect, conditions gradually improve, the company is confident of achieving a relatively solid EBIT margin. However, if general market conditions remain strained or deteriorate further, aleo solar AG will also be adversely affected by these developments.
aleo solar AG is aiming for further organic growth in 2010. The aleo solar Group will continue its focus on internationalisation and will generate around half of its revenue outside Germany in the medium term.
